Guineas originate in West Africa and carvings of this mysteriously beautiful bird can be found on buildings built by ancient Egyptians. The ancient Greeks considered the meat and eggs delicacies. The Lavender color is one of the more beautiful and sought after.

The guinea makes a very good watch dog and will let you know if an intruder is around. They are also known to be good tick and bug eaters. Guinea fowl are very hard to sex by sight. The males utter a one-syllable call, usually repeated several times in succession (chit, chit, chit).The females utter a two-syllable call, usually repeated several times in succession (buck-wheat, buck-wheat, buck-wheat, buck-wheat). Guinea fowl normally hide their nests and then show up with many little keets when allowed to free range. They like to roost high in trees.

Live birds can only be shipped using USPS Priority Express which reaches most local post offices overnight. Your birds must be picked up from the local Post Office as quickly as possible to ensure your new babies are safe. Shipping is additional and generally ranges from $25 to $75 depending on where you live and how many chicks you order.

Our Live Chick Guarantee only applies if you order 6 or more chicks. This is because we believe that 6 chicks is the ideal number of bodies to keep the little guys safe.
